Per Rod Mullen "My father drew the plans himself and built that house between July 1956 and June of 1957 with the help of his friends at the Fire Department and the help of my mother's father and brothers. I still have the time sheets my father kept during construction. My parents and I lived in the back apartment. The front apartment was originally occupied by my mother's aunt, Rosa Thompson, who had previously lived at 504 Oakwood Ave."
